My original idea included the tabs area to drop the external file as a new document (even more I think tabs should be animated so the drop operation is visible/we have some feedback), or drop it between layers to drop it as new layers, or between frames to add it as animation (the same for the timeline, I always wanted to make the timeline animated to expand a little space to know where the new file will be placed, and the same thing for drag-and-drop operations in the timeline itself, but that is another story/feature). Other possibility I was thinking was a combination with #2324 Hi that's right! I had a similar idea, but never liked the dialog for all cases, and I never thought about a dialog only for ambiguous regions, I think it's a nice solution for certain cases (the dialog should have a "don't show again" or something like that). I assumed there wasn't a solution based on the other comments in this thread, but I am able to do what I need to do - it's just the issue outlined above made it seem like you could not copy and paste multiple frames to a different aseprite file. Go back to tab "B", click on the left-most frame, hold down the mouse button, then drag to the right-most frame.Go to tab "A", create a new layer, and paste.Click the left-most frame of the animation, scroll to the right, hold in shift, and click the right-most frame in the animation.

However, I think I just figured it out - it looks like I can select multiple frames, copy, and then paste into a different file. I had multiple layers, and I wanted to export them as separate animated gifs and re-import them. No, I meant importing from GIFs that I created in my previous tool - pyxeledit.
